Local activists use art to build a brighter future at Comuna 13, Medellín

Through the winding and steep roads of Comuna 13 in Medellín, the resilience of the community is evident: walls covered with graffiti, children playing on the streets, vendors organizing their tiny shops. Life goes on as usual in a place that was one of the main stages of violence in the 1990s. Humanitas360 had the chance of meeting local artist and activist Kbala, who told the story of his community in a very inspiring way. Through art, hip hop and other creative tools, Kbala along with his friends founded Casa Kolacho in order to transform Comuna 13 from the inside out.
