Google and Humanitas360 organize training event for ex-inmates
In partnership with Google, Rede Mulher Empreendedora, Passarela Alternativa and the employment agency for former inmates Responsa, Humanitas360 Institute organized a training event called Grow with Google – Women Will, designed specifically for women leaving the prison system, on July 23 and 24. The event was held at the Google for Startups Campus, in São Paulo.
Sixteen hours of classes were taught over two days, with a certificate from Google upon completion. Participants engaged in workshops and round table discussions about leadership, assertive communication, networking, self-image and how to do business.
This training is especially important for women coming out of the prison system. The profile of most of the inmates, young (50%), black (62%), single (62%) with no high school degree (45%), coincides with the most vulnerable group of the job market. According to data from the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) from 2018, black women are 50% more susceptible to unemployment than other social groups.
The program Grow with Google – Women Will started two years ago, with training sessions held four times a year. Each edition of the event focuses on a specific group of women who generally do not have access to traditional training programs, such as mothers with small children, single mothers, older mothers (50+) and transgender women. More than 15,000 women have already received training throughout Brazil.
