Patrícia Villela Marino champions Hemp potential, details H360’s Venice installation in Times Brasil interview

On June 18th, the president of Humanitas360 Institute and advisor to Ficus Institute, Patrícia Villela Marino, was interviewed on the business channel Times Brasil/CNBC about the potential that industrial Hemp represents for the Brazilian economy and climate justice. The conversation with journalist Christiane Pelajo started from the hempcrete installation – concrete made from Hemp – that H360 is presenting at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, a milestone in the institute’s 10-year anniversary celebrations and the result of a partnership with Ficus and architects Pedro Mendes da Rocha and Chico Gitahy.

On the TV show, Patrícia Villela Marino advocated that Hemp cultivation be authorized and regulated in Brazil, starting with a review of Ordinance 344/1998 from the Ministry of Health. “Our goal is for the entire production cycle, from planting to developing products like panels and concrete, to be done here, generating employment and income,” she said. She also highlighted the plant’s regenerative qualities, noting that “in addition to restoring degraded soils, Hemp is transformed into concrete and panels that help with thermal insulation, reducing air conditioning use and energy costs for low-income families.”
