H360 brings together network of organizations for inclusive education at São Paulo seminar

On August 1st, the Humanitas360 Institute, in partnership with Instituto Rodrigo Mendes, Instituto Alana, Instituto Olga Kos, and Mais Diferenças, held the seminar “Dialogues on Inclusive Education Practices” at the São Paulo City Council. Councilwoman Cris Monteiro welcomed the initiative, facilitated coordination with the municipal Education and Disability secretariats, and led the event’s opening.

Participating in the opening panel, H360 president Patrícia Villela Marino shared the personal account that motivated the seminar’s creation: the case of a mother whose child with disabilities faced violent situations in São Paulo’s educational system, forcing the family to leave the capital. She argued that all civil society must practice active listening and pressure for concrete improvements from public managers, including a budget review that enables training and hiring of Special Education professionals.

“Dialogues on Inclusive Education Practices” represented an articulated movement in this direction, bringing together essential contributions from representatives of all participating organizations, as well as teachers, families, and students with disabilities from the public network. Managers from the municipality’s Education and Disability departments were also heard, along with representation from Councilwoman Marina Bragante’s office.

The complete seminar is available on the São Paulo City Council’s YouTube channel. Watch here.
