On Amazon Day, celebrated on September 5th, the Humanitas360 Institute is pleased to announce the completion of a project bringing clean drinking water to the Paiter Suruí indigenous people. This third phase provided access to treated water for 435 people across six villages in the Sete de Setembro Indigenous Territory, in the rural area of Cacoal, Rondônia. The installations were completed in July of this year, benefiting the villages of Iratana, Linha 9, Amaral/Galway, Betel, Aymoré, and Joaquim.

The project began in 2023 with the installation of large-scale filters in the Lapetanha and Pabykeb villages in Rondônia, impacting approximately 112 people. The following year, it gained new momentum with installations in the Gamir and Apoena Meirelles villages, benefiting more than 80 families in the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso. Now, all major villages in Paiter Suruí territory have access to safe drinking water. The selection of strategic locations was carried out under the supervision of Cacique Almir Suruí.

This initiative is part of the efforts of the Potable Water Coalition for Indigenous Peoples, created by Humanitas360 with its supporter, PDR Philanthropic Fund, and the social and environmental impact startup Água Camelo to raise funds and develop innovative solutions to guarantee clean water supply to as many indigenous villages as possible throughout the country, particularly in the Legal Amazon region.
