On October 10, the Humanitas360 Institute held its 2025 Annual Board Meeting. The event took place both in-person in São Paulo at the social impact hub CIVI-CO and virtually, ensuring broad participation from H360 board members and partners in Brazil, Latin American countries, and the United States.

Board President Ambassador Rubens Ricupero opened the proceedings with a welcome address, sharing the “positive feeling” he had regarding the “continuity and stability of the work” and the “diversification of areas” in which the Institute operates. He mentioned continued support for formerly incarcerated individuals and the advocacy campaign for industrial hemp, renewed this year by H360’s participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Speaking via videoconference, Humanitas360 President Patrícia Villela Marino celebrated the “civic friendship” that brought everyone together, paid tribute to former President of Brazil and H360 Board President Emeritus Fernando Henrique Cardoso, and reflected on the celebrations marking 2025. “We are celebrating 10 years of H360, a reason for great joy and the absolute certainty that the objectives that motivated its creation in 2015 remain alive and have intensified: we have never needed the daily practice of active citizenship more than we do today—whether in Brazil or anywhere in the Americas,” she said.

This was followed by presentations from Ricardo Anderáos, executive director of PDR Philanthropic Fund—created by Patrícia and Ricardo Villela Marino with their son Daniel and which supports the Humanitas360 Institute—Bruno Pegoraro, president of the Ficus Institute for Social and Economic Research on Cannabis, and Laura Martini Zellmeister, H360’s project manager.

Looking ahead to 2026, Ambassador Rubens Ricupero led a discussion with anthropologist Juliano Spyer about the Difficult Conversations project, which will expand its thematic scope to address sensitive issues in Brazilian and Latin American society. Board members and invited partners participated in the conversation, offering topic suggestions for the series that began this year as a partnership between H360, CIVI-CO, and Spyer.

The meeting concluded with a visit to the new street store and workshop of Tereza, a social enterprise and strategic partner of the Humanitas360 Institute that trains and generates income for women formerly in the prison system. During the visit, Flavia Maria da Silva—formerly incarcerated, former president of a social cooperative created by H360, and current CEO of the brand—presented the space and the Tereza team to the guests.

Executive Board members Patrícia and Ricardo Villela Marino, Paulo de Rezende, and William Heuseler participated via videoconference. Board member Reginaldo Lima and attorneys Marcos Chaves Ladeira and Sarah Hakim were present at CIVI-CO. Participating online were board members Adriana Szasz Franco, Erin Trapp, Fernando Grostein, Jô Santana, General Óscar Naranjo, Pedro Alonzo, Piero Bonadeo, Renata Moura, Roberta Anchieta, Stanley Motta, and Viviane Falcão, as well as invited partners and friends Eduardo Salcedo-Albarán, Jane Rieper, Maurício Stegemann Dieter, Panagiotis Papatheologou, and Sergio Valente.
