Supported by H360, musical about Martinho da Vila premieres in São Paulo with costumes designed by Tereza
On September 19, the show “Martinho, Coração de Rei – O Musical” premiered in São Paulo for invited guests, including a very special group. That night, collaborators of the social business Tereza, women who have been released from the prison system, were able to see their work come to life on the stage of the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso. Since July, they have been involved in the creation and production of approximately 300 pieces of costume, helping to tell the story of the life and legacy of samba poet Martinho da Vila, all under the careful guidance of costume designer Cláudio Tovar.
This celebration was possible thanks to the partnership between Tereza, the producers of the show and the Humanitas360 Institute, which supports the play directed by Miguel Fallabella and conceived by Jô Santana. The production marks the resumption of a partnership that began in 2022, when Tereza contributed to the costumes for “Marrom, o Musical”, a play that toured Brazil honoring the life and legacy of singer Alcione.
With a text by intellectual Helena Theodoro, “Martinho, Coração de Rei” will be showing in the capital of São Paulo until November 24, with sessions on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are on sale now.
