Humanitas360 get together with Maranhão women of the Mulheres do Brasil Group
In July, the president of Humanitas360, Patrícia Villela Marino, joined a conversation with Maranhão women of the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil (the Brazilian Women Group). The Zoom meeting was mediated by the entrepreneur Patrícia Maranhão and had guests from the group, who had a chance to get to know the work developed by H360. The meeting’s agenda included H360 initiatives in the State, the presentation of the Tereza Vale a Pena brand, and plans for the inauguration and operation of the Cuxá Cooperative in the São Luís Women’s Prison Unit (UFPEM, also known as the Pedrinhas Penitentiary).
One of the group’s guests for the conversation was Silvia Leite, Special Activities Sector – Espaço Mulher coordinator at the São Luís Urgency and Emergency Hospital (also known as Socorrão II), who works in humanized care for women victims of domestic violence. Silvia is a highly respected activist in the state and has shown herself willing to join forces in favor of the project with women prisoners and mentioned some of her work carried out in state prison units.
The Mulheres do Brasil group had already welcomed the Humanitas360 team in Maranhão in March this year, when a dinner with female leaders took place. Since then, the institutions have been talking to support the Cuxá cooperative project, which had its inauguration postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the meeting, the group reaffirmed their interest in contributing to the project and offered support in the various sectors in which they operate.
One of the Humanitas360 Institute’s work goals is to bring civil society together in a spirit of conciliation and peace — thus the importance of connecting the work carried out by women prisoners, businesswomen and public servants is to work for accountability within the community as a whole. We continue!
