Green Doors: Temporary Leave
What it is
A support initiative in prison units in the countryside of São Paulo, focused on assisting imprisoned women in semi-open regimes during temporary releases, known as “saidinhas”. In addition to donating food, clothing and hygiene kits, made possible with the help of partners, conversations are also held to clarify legal doubts of the people deprived of liberty. In 2024, a pilot action was carried out at the Women’s Penitentiary II of Tremembé, where approximately 120 people benefited. After another field trip during the Christmas “saidinha” of the same year, the project will expand from 2025.
Objectives
The program aims to provide material and legal assistance to women serving sentences during their temporary release periods, through the provision of basic items and legal guidance, collaborating with the social reintegration of the affected women. In 2025, the project will cover the four annual temporary releases provided for by law, mobilizing a specialized technical team and network of partners to assist both female prisoners and their families.
