Read the note from H360 regarding the appointment of Flávio Dino to the Supreme Federal Court
The Humanitas360 Institute congratulates Minister Flávio Dino on his appointment to the Supreme Federal Court, formalized by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on November 27th. Now Minister of Justice and Public Security, Dino played a prominent role in the history of social cooperatives created by H360 in the Brazilian prison system.
In 2019, when he was governor of Maranhão, Flávio Dino signed the cooperation agreement that united our Institute with the State Government and the Court of Justice of Maranhão and the National Council of Justice in the mission of installing the Cuxá Social Cooperative in the São Luís Women’s Prison Unit. Luís. Since then, the Institute’s actions have helped transform lives inside and outside the Pedrinhas Complex, offering multidisciplinary care and professional training to imprisoned women and former prisoners in the state. This expansion is symbolized by the recently opened store and workshop of the social business Tereza, in São Luís.
“All this restoration of the social fabric from Maranhão and Pedrinhas was only possible thanks to the support of Flávio Dino,” says Patrícia Villela Marino, president of the Humanitas360 Institute. “His nomination to the Supreme Federal Court gives us hope of seeing the values linked to this project – faith in social reintegration, respect for human rights and the promotion of citizenship – reflected in the country’s highest court.”
The civic friendship between Flávio Dino and Patrícia Villela Marino continued after his arrival at the Federal Government. This year, the president of H360 was invited by Dino to join the National Council for Criminal and Penitentiary Policy, of the Ministry of Justice. Furthermore, within the scope of the Council of the Presidency of the Republic, they collaborated in the preparatory work for the installation of the Working Group on “National Policy on Psychoactive Substances: Health Promotion, Stimulating Economic Activity and Improving Public Security”.
