Set to premiere in March in Maranhão, “Marrom, o Musical” celebrates the work of cooperative members in the state

The show Marrom, o Musical already has a date to arrive in the hometown of its honoree. Scheduled for March 1st, the premiere in São Luís, Maranhão comes as a double celebration. On the same stage where Alcione’s life and work will be celebrated, the embroidery developed by the women of the social cooperative incubated by the Humanitas360 Institute in the state will also be present. Through this initiative, H360 brings training and income generation – as well as support on legal, social assistance, and spirituality matters – to prisoners in the Women’s Prison Unit of São Luís.

After successful seasons in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the expectations for the arrival of the musical created by Jô Santana and directed by Miguel Falabella to one of the most traditional cultural centers in Maranhão, the Teatro Artur Azevedo, are high. Months before its premiere, the show is already moving the state.

On January 24, the president of the Court of Justice of Maranhão, Judge Paulo Velten, personally received an invitation to watch the play. On the occasion, the counselor of the Cuxá Cooperative, Patricia Maranhão, judge Mirella Freitas, and public defender Suzana Camillo also brought handcrafted pieces of the Tereza brand, which are produced by imprisoned women, former prisioners and women in vulnerable situations, with the support of H360. During the meeting, the three representatives presented the work developed by the cooperative in São Luís, and that now brighten the costumes of the piece that celebrates the singer who sponsored them.

According to the TJ-MA News Agency, Paulo Velten expressed institutional support for the initiatives, confirmed his presence at the premiere, and reinforced the role of the Judiciary in inclusive and humanitarian projects. “These are important public policies to which the Judiciary must place itself as a partner and have as a commitment,” he said.

Also in January, Patrícia Maranhão and the show’s team, headed by Jô Santana, also met with other local authorities, such as the state secretary of Culture, Yuri Arruda, the deputy mayor of São Luís, Esmênia Miranda, and the municipal secretary of Tourism, Saulo Santos.

According to Santana, seasons of the show have already been confirmed in Belém, Pará and João Pessoa, Paraíba, with dates to be announced soon.
