The 2020 Humanitarian Award, awarded by “The Trust for the Americas”, a subsidiary of the Organization of American States (OAS), was presented to our President, Patricia Villela Marino. The entity annually recognizes personalities who have contributed significantly to the social good.
The award ceremony was held remotely and was led by Secretary General Luis Almagro Lemes. In a note, the Executive Committee of “The Trust” stated that the choice was made thanks to the leadership of Villela Marino in the search for the development of the skills of incarcerated women and the use of technology to help people deprived of liberty to reconnect with their families during the pandemic.
“We deeply appreciate your commitment to educating ex-convicts and their families so that they can begin a new chapter in their lives and become productive members of society. This work is essential for more inclusive societies, ”said Enrique García, president of the organization’s Board of Directors.
In her speech, Humanitas360’s president recalled the institution’s goal: “By bringing people together, we can make a real difference and begin to break down the barriers that divide us. We can cultivate an environment that gives everyone a voice and a reason to listen to the people around them. This is Humanitas360’s ultimate mission: to foster a society that recognizes that all of us, including and especially the most vulnerable, have extraordinary value”, she said.
